(UVGI) is a disinfection method that transmits
short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UV-C) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions.
UVC light has been used extensively for more than 40 years in disinfecting drinking water, waste water, air, pharmaceutical products and surfaces against a whole range of human pathogens. All bacteria and viruses tested to date respond to UV disinfection. (including coronaviruses)
